Sunrise of Southbourne
Sunrise of Southbourne is located just a short walk away from the sea front on Bell Vue Road and the 1.78 acre site was previously occupied by a 50 bedroom hotel and Christian conference centre. Planning permission was granted in July 2006 following the Planning Officer’s recommendation for consent and a unanimous approval of this recommendation by the committee. The community opened just 17 months later in December 2007 and provides accommodation for 102 residents.

Opened October 2007

Sunrise of Tettenhall
This 2.5 acre site was previously undeveloped land in the greenbelt, adjacent to an existing nursing home. Planning permission was granted in January 2006, again following Planning Officer’s recommendation and committee’s unanimous approval for consent. A 2-storey building was constructed with 79 units providing accommodation for up to 89 residents.
Sunrise of Mobberley
Planning consent was granted for this 3-storey, 72,000 sq ft building in February 2005. As with all developments we endeavoured to establish a good relationship with the planners and we were fortunate in this situation to build an excellent working relationship with the Planning Officer and Conservation Officer at Macclesfield Borough Council and English Heritage. This enabled us to overcome the potential difficulties encountered with the number of protected trees on site, the proximity to the Grade II Listed building and the site’s location within the green belt and local conservation area. The site was previously occupied by a derelict nursing home and totals 6 acres. More information can be found here.
Edgbaston,
Birmingham

Opened March 2006

Sunrise of Edgbaston
This Regency-style building sits naturally in the Calthorpe conservation area on a site that was previously occupied by a listed building. For all Sunrise developments, the local vernacular is carefully considered resulting in a bespoke design for every site. This development is a great example of Sunrise’s ability to deliver its assurances: that a Sunrise community would make a greater contribution to the conservation area than the previous building. We believe that we have produced a high quality building, enhancing the street scene and providing quality accommodation for the discerning seniors of Edgbaston. Planning was granted in 2004 and the unique building opened its doors to residents in 2006.
